To support an effort led by this Hopi-led organization to plan for and promote the construction of a new solar powered electric generating station that will provide jobs and offer an alternative to the Mohave Generating Station which was depleting local water supplies.

Black Mesa Water Coalition, Flagstaff, AZ • $12,000
For work on issues of environmental justice, energy and water, climate justice, youth leadership development, and building local sustainable economies.

Common Counsel Foundation Grassroots Exchange Fund, Oakland, CA • $10,000
For a fund to supply travel grants to encourage community activists to seek assistance from one another and to build regional and national networks.

Dakota Rural Action, Brookings, SD • $10,000
For the community organizing expansion project which will build an alternative response to the anti-regulatory movement and extremist hate groups in central and Western South Dakota.

Denali Citizen's Council, Denali Park, AK • $10,000
For citizen-based efforts to defend Denali National Park and Preserve and surrounding areas and to promote sustainable land-use and development that preserves the intact natural ecosystem of the park.

Duwamish River Cleanup Coalition, Seattle, WA • $8,000
To achieve a thorough cleanup that supports the community’s future environmental, health, economic, recreational and community development needs.

Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice, San Francisco, CA • $8,000
To support the Bayview Hunter's Point Mothers Environmental Justice campaign which is mobilizing community members to demand environmental health protection measures from industry and local government in the Bayview Hunter's Point neighborhood of San Francisco.

Institute for Socio-Economic Justice & Progressive Community Development, Brawley, CA • $10,000
For work to establish community empowerment movements and services that address the fundamental needs of the underserved communities of Imperial County.

KAHEA: The Hawaiian Environmental Alliance, Honolulu, HI • $12,000
A renewal grant for this community based organization working to improve the quality of life for Hawaii's people and future generations through the revitalization and protection of Hawaii's unique natural and cultural resources.

Klamath Forest Alliance (KFA), Orleans, CA • $7,000
To promote sustainable ecosystems and communities in the Klamath-Siskiyou bioregion of northern California.

Klamath Siskiyou Wildlands Center, Ashland, OR • $7,000
To protect and restore the Klamath Siskiyou bioregion in southern Oregon.

Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition (OVEC), Huntington, WV • $8,000
To empower West Virginia citizens to take on the coal industry through campaigns to reduce air and water pollution and to end the dangerous practice of mountaintop removal mining.

Powder River Basin Resource Council, Sheridan, WY • $8,000
A renewal grant to organize small ranchers and other rural citizens in eastern Wyoming to protect their environment, natural resources and livelihoods from the increasing threat of unsustainable water, gas and mineral extraction efforts.
