Field of Interest Funds

Common Counsel Field of Interest Funds enable a community of donors to support grant-making programs that are designed to leverage funding for traditionally under-funded issues and constituencies. Common Counsel also leverages Field of Interest Fund contributions by seeking matching support from other foundations and individuals.

Current Common Counsel Field of Interest Funds include:

Social and Economic Justice Fund

The Social and Economic Justice Fund is a collaborative grants initiative that supports organizations working on civil and human rights, youth organizing, alternative media and public information, and economic justice for low-income immigrant communities and communities of color in the greater San Francisco-Oakland Bay Area.

Grassroots Exchange Fund (GXF)

The Grassroots Exchange Fund enables donors to support a wide range of community-based organizations that are working to connect their efforts with regional and national initiatives for social, racial, economic, and environmental equality. GXF is a community-guided funding program that enables over 80 organizations per year to engage in collaborative campaigns, strengthen key cross-region and cross-sector movements, and participate in organizing and technical assistance trainings. GXF is directly guided by a board of experienced community leaders who also sit on the governing board of Common Counsel.
