Penney Family Fund
Formed in 1999, the Penney Family Fund supports organizations based in Oregon, California, and Washington that work to advance human rights, community social, political, and economic empowerment, government accountability, and environmental sustainability. Proposals are accepted by invitation only.
The Penney Family Fund is a family foundation formed after the James C. Penney Foundation restructured in early 1999. The Penney Family Fund is not affiliated with the J.C. Penney Company, Inc., or its corporate giving program.
Penney Family Fund Mission Statement
The Penney Family Fund was established to promote and support a society that honors the dignity of the individual. We believe that by working together people can make a difference in achieving basic human rights and a secure future.
The Fund helps enable people to:
- Work towards the achievement of self-reliance
- Expand political and social participation
- Promote the public accountability of our governing institutions
- Advocate respect and engagement among diverse cultures and races.
The Fund focuses its grant-making on:
- Sustainable and livable communities;
- Quality early childcare and learning, and youth development;
- Social and economic justice;
- Money and influence in politics; and
- Fiscal issues at the state and local level.
