Farewell Letter from the Executive Director
Dear CCF Community,
As my last note to you before I step away from Common Counsel Foundation, I am really happy to be able to share with you that the Community Ownership for Community Power Fund’s highly anticipated Integrated Capital Fund is well on its way to becoming operational with its newly formed LLC structure. This is yet another example of CCF’s bold and innovative approaches to shifting power to communities.
Alongside this Fund, deepening our collaboration with Movement Innovation Collaborative to accelerate power building in California, mobilizing resources through the expansion of the strategic philanthropic advising program, building out the internal systems, policies, and infrastructure to support these growth areas for the coming years, the organization remains in a good place and ready for the future.
After much consideration and reflection on a long career of decades working in social justice, I made the decision that at this stage of my life and career, it was time for me to slow down. I’m looking forward to moving into semi-retirement. I am excited about creating space for family and various other interests that I never quite made enough time for and exploring how to make this next chapter just as meaningful and fulfilling as the journey that brought me here.
CCF and our partners have left a profound impression and impact on me. I want to take this moment to thank our community partners and funders for all that you do and for your support and partnership. I also want to thank the leadership of CCF staff for making it all possible, its Board for the guidance and Ed Lee, who has been on the Board of Directors for the past eight years, will now be stepping into the role of Interim Executive Director.
In solidarity,
Sangeeta Chowdhry
