Common Counsel Foundation Welcomes Chandra Alexandre to its Board of Directors

An accomplished leader with over 25 years of experience working for social change and equity in the nonprofit sector.

We are delighted to announce Chandra Alexandre as our newest board member. Chandra is an accomplished leader with over 25 years of experience working for social change and equity in the nonprofit sector.

Chandra currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Community Action Marin, an anti-poverty movement building social services agency.

Throughout her career, Chandra has been instrumental in driving social justice outcomes, championing affordable housing and early childhood education initiatives, expanding national education reform strategies, and supporting movements for global women’s rights. She has also been a strong voice in reshaping the narrative on economic justice.

Before her non-profit journey, Chandra gained significant experience in financial services and worked for the US Department of State. As a professional fundraiser, her exceptional work leading outreach and fundraising for the 2011 APEC Women & The Economy Summit, hosted by Secretary Hillary Clinton, earned her recognition from the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women.

Chandra is not only a proven leader but also a dedicated learner and educator. She has taught in the University of San Francisco’s Master’s in Nonprofit Administration program and holds a seat on several Bay Area boards of directors, including Presidio Graduate School and Marin Community Clinics. She is also a member of the Advisory Council of United Way Bay Area and a Commissioner for the City of Novato’s Multicultural Commission. Chandra is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds certificates in both Ethical Leadership and DEI for Human Resources. She graduated from Columbia with a dual degree in psychology and philosophy and holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Religion.
