2024 Annual Report: Rooted in Community
We are proud to share highlights of the powerful work of our community partners and how donors and funders are mobilizing to support their vision.

A Note From Our Executive Director
Dear CCF Community,
As I look back on 2024, I reflect on the many ways Common Counsel Foundation stayed true to our north star by being accountable to racial and social justice movements. At the heart of our work, we focused on how we can continue to scaffold movements to lead and identify solutions with intersectional power-building efforts that can grow and endure beyond various political environments into the future. The wins and milestones that took place this past year are another testament to our impact in building this level of infrastructure.
- We distributed $48 million in grants to 700 organizations around the country through our funder collaboratives, donor-advised funds, and fiscally-sponsored projects.
- We also amended our bylaws to require that at least 50% of Board members have a background in racial and social justice movement organizing. This resolution ensures that our leadership and practices are led, guided, and informed by the movements we partner with, preserving the integrity of our work.
- We partnered with Movement Innovation Collaborative, a groundbreaking initiative of cross-sector, cross-racial networks of grassroots power-building centers, to drive transformative change in California. CCF will serve as a board member and provide financial oversight to support organizer-led efforts across California to build on the collective imaginings of movements towards a future deeply rooted in racial justice and community power.
- We provided critical infrastructure and successfully incubated social justice organizations towards their autonomy to become anchors across the movement ecosystem. Movement for Black Lives and Color Congress were able to transition to become their own 501(c)3 organizations. Meanwhile, Native Voices Rising and Rising Majority are now fiscally sponsored by CCF.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we continue our journey to resource and sustain movements for the long term.
In solidarity,
Sangeeta Chowdhry
Executive Director
